how to add ‘SHOP THE LOOK’ widget to your blog

“Don’t be too quick to leave the tree you are highly convinced of its future sweet fruits and comforting shade just because you see its present fruitlessness. Just sit under it and endure the scorching sun, one day, its branches will give you comfort and its fruits will give you smiles and nourish your body!”― Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

Hi lovelies! Today I’m going to share with you what I’ve recently discovered and learned out of neverending tweaking my blog. And that’s how to create a ‘Shop the Look’ widget to your blog.

I tried to create my own widget and that’s by using the HTML <table> element. I was using before so everything was limited. I can’t insert a table by simple clicking a button.  See the difference below:

I had to code to add a table in my post because I don’t like how the gallery looks on the front page. The widget I created looked quite fine. I was good with it.

The only issue though was when I switched to a self-hosted WordPress, where I had the freedom to add everything on my blog such as the ‘Pin It’ widget. It’s a widget that lets the images in a post shareable to Pinterest. It’s cool. I like it. But I don’t like it to show up on the little images I created for the ‘Shop the Look’ part of my post. I have checked all the possible plugins but none of them seem to work for me.

Thank God though because I was recently invited to join the squad of the certified influencers at Stylinity. It’s a premier fashion and lifestyle community, where brands, shoppers, and influencers get connected. Their content is shoppable, which means influencers get to earn in return and just by posting a look to their website and app. Plus, they have a product widget that can be embedded on both free and hosted blog sites! I have created a 10-minute video tutorial to guide you through. But first, here are the things that you will need:

  • account –  sign up here
  • Go2buy account – sign up here
  • Links of the fashion items that you’d like to attach in your outfit post
  • Photos of your outfit can be image links from your blog or right from your PC
  • Basic coding skills

Success story

I got an instant ‘Shop the Look’ widget and I was able to get rid of the ‘Pin It’ button from showing up. And I get to also earn from the outfits I’m posting!

It’s my very first time to create a tutorial so please bear with me if it’s a little messy. Also, I’m so silly to realise that I could use a Quick Time Player to do a screen recording. I spent an hour I think trying to get rid of that Screencast O Matic watermark, but I ended up showing it anyways. Urghh, next time, next time. .
