[food + diary] how i start my day healthy and positive

Today, I’m going to talk about how I usually start my day. As someone who works at home and working for clients with different time zones, my day typically starts at midday. A long sumptuous sleep is very important for me. That’s why I always see to it that I have enough rest. After all, having a good night sleep is the key to having a good start of the day. I love sleeping but on the other hand, I dislike wasting time on the bed when I’m already awake. Daria is the opposite. She would wake up so early so she has enough time to waste. That’s her argument. I’m quite against it but we all have our own strategy so if it’s her way to make herself fully awake, then it’s fine. 😐 She would normally browse her phone for an hour or two before finally getting up. I think that’s really her way of starting the day because, after that, she’d be as energetic as a bull, doing all the stuff that she has to do for the day.
In my case, when I’m up, I would get up right away and brush my teeth. Feeling clean gives me a small sense of pride, which encourages me to do another task and another and another.. Then after that, I make myself half productive, half slacking. LOL. The slacking part is checking my smartphone in between performing my daily routine. For example, waiting for my noodles or rice or eggs for brunch to boil is the perfect opportunity for me to slack a little and browse through my phone. In that manner, my body might be in slacking mode but it’s a great exercise for the brain. Once the waiting game is over, that’s the time when I exert physical energy. It might sound easy to prepare breakfast or brunch for other people but in my case, it’s quite different. I think I have ADHD when it comes to performing tasks like cooking because I have a hard time focusing and remembering things that I need to do. It sounds frustrating but come to think of it, walking around too much just to prepare food is an instant workout. Another story is cleaning up of the mess. Which explains why I am all hyped up after finishing my brunch and kitchen works. And don’t forget a cup of coffee or two to match with my meal! 😀
I am not used to having breakfast (maybe because I always wake up late) but I do believe that starting the day with good food keeps the negative energy at bay, whilst giving us more power and good feeling to get through the rest of the day.
Today, I opted for a quick healthy meal – Tuna Salad. Below is the simple recipe.
Salt and pepper

- Bring a pot of water to boil and cook pasta until soft.
- At the same time, boil the eggs in a smaller pot or egg boiler for 7-10 minutes.
- Once the pasta and eggs are done, let them cool for 5 minutes.
- Pasta sauce – In a pasta bowl, mix in the mayo, tuna and eggs. And salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve with either pasta noodles or sandwich. In my case, I had Fusilli and garnished it with leaf lettuce and tomatoes.
